Another masterpiece from the palette of artist Claire Warbeck “The Masked Man” aka Michael Petherick. The inspiration behind the portrait is Claire’s recent painting of Stephanie Jarvis and both are now ready for the Masked Ball at the Chateau de la Basmaignee! What romantic visions does this conjure up?!
Of her own admission Claire finds “hairy faces” a challenge and (glutton for punishment) – after Dick’s thick mustache and beard – here’s Michael. Claire may find facial hair challenging but she does not fail to deliver. I always wonder at the eyes, she manages to create windows to the soul – so much expression in her brush strokes.

Claire is off today for her annual “France fix” and has booked to stay in a beautiful farmhouse in the Lot et Garonne. She told me that for the first time in her life she packed her painting equipment before she packed her clothes! I for one cannot wait to see her French adventure on canvas.
