We all recognise Edward and Anna who we’ve enjoyed watching on the Channel 4 Series of Escape to the Chateau DIY. Since 2007 Edward and Anna have been sympathetically and beautifully restoring the 15th Century Château Lagorce, located 25 minutes from Bordeaux. The original dream was to renovate the chateau for family use and ultimately to leave it as a legacy for their two children, Charles and Emma.
In the latest episode of Chateau DIY : Living the Dream we relive their journey from 2 weddings a year to 15 or more. Anna is a self confessed “wedding lover” and her primary focus in life at the chateau is to make every bride and groom’s day the most memorable and perfect as possible – she’s an absolute perfectionist often trying Edward’s patience!. In 2017, how better to celebrate their own wedding than to host it at the Chateau?
During their incredibly busy wedding season where they host up to 38 weddings in a year with perhaps a Sunday afternoon off, Anna went into labour with their second child. Such is her dedication, she was timing her contractions at a wedding reception before she realised they had to make the 45 minutes drive to the hospital because they baby was on its way! Baby Emma arrived that the same day!
Edward is an equal match for Anna, he too is a perfectionist. While planning the formal garden layout the measurements were painstakingly taken, not to mention the care taken when building a fantasy chateau-scale treehouse for his son Charles, dubbed “King Charles”.
