A recent Daily Mail article has revealed the devastating effect that Covid 19 has had on the chateaux for sale market, positive for buyers not so for the sellers.  The lockdown in France has forced many aristocrats who potentially have had the property in the family for centuries, and other owners to put their chateaux on the market, in many cases for ridiculous prices.  The article stated that some prices have fallen by as much as 40%!  

As of June 2020, French estate agents have reported having over 1,500 Chateaux on their books which is more than double the number ten years ago.  Here are just a few examples:

Lot Valley, Southern France:  14 bedrooms and five bathrooms chateau dating back to the 13th century, 4 acres, chapel and swimming pool.
2019: £809k (€890k) Now: £590k (€650k) Price reduction of 27%

Chateauroux, Indre, Central France:   A turreted property combining three styles of architecture medieval, renaissance and 19th century, 18 bedrooms and traditional cottage gite, on 7 acres.
