Getting Ready for Christmas Dinner at Château de Vaudezert

As an American living in Normandy, I have today been wished Happy Thanksgiving by my British wife and UK friends.  Sadly though, for me there will be no turkey dinner served up today – but I am not in despair!

My loving wife (and business partner), Lisa, has organized a kick-off to Christmas lunch this Sunday at Château de Vaudezert, and we will be joined there by 14 other expats for a truly festive afternoon.  Château owners Karen and Wayne are catering the event with all of the mouth-watering traditional favourites.  Christmas pudding.

So, on this Thanksgiving Day, this Yank is not too sad about no turkey dinner with all the trimmings – I’ve banked those calories for this Sunday’s feast!  You’ll understand why when you see the menu:

We start with a sherry aperitif, then a starter of Smoked Haddock Florentine with crusty bread.

The main stars of our meal are Christmas Turkey, Pigs in Blankets, Stuffing, Bread Sauce, Honey Glazed Parsnips, Orange and Marmalade Carrots, Red Cabbage, Sprouts, Roast Potatoes and Mashed Potatoes with Gravy, and Wine!

Then of course traditional Christmas Pudding with Brandy Sauce and if that was not enough Petit Fours and Coffee!  OK, so as not to be a complete glutton, I’ll give my serving of sprouts to Lisa.

We wish that you could have joined us, but our Christmas Lunch extravaganza is sold out.  You can, however, join us in the future as we organize more special days, weekends, getaways and events at Château de Vaudezert.  Watch our website, ChateauxEscapesFrance.com or our Châteaux Escapes France Facebook Page for details and hope to see you soon!
