Château du Puits es Pratx

Meet a new addition to the Escape to the Chateau DIY club, the 39 room Château du Puits es Pratx located in Southern France in the Languedoc (also know as Occitanie) region.  According to the owners, Tim and Sasha, it was love at first sight – they came, they saw, they rang the bank!  When you see the photographs of this property you will see why!

With Tim being a professional photographer and Sasha a wedding dress designer, food stylist and executive chef they combine their talents and their beautiful Château to offer the perfect recipe for your ideal wedding, corporate, special events venue, hen and stag weekends as well as holiday accommodation.  Amenities at Château du Puits es Pratx include en suite accommodation, a seasonal heated swimming pool, two spas with services, and the restaurant L’Es Pratx which serves flavours of the Mediterranean in an indoor or outdoor setting.

Château du Puits es Pratx is host to many entertainment soirees and they even offer a 15% discount to those lucky enough to be able to dine with them as regular guests.

Carcassonne Medievel Citadel

Ideally located close to the Canal du Midi and the Mediterranean, the Château is just 15 minutes from Narbonne and 40 minutes from the world renowned medieval citadel of Carcassonne (pictured above) and is served by flights into Beziers, Carcassone, Montpellier and Perpignan.  This location makes it convenient as a stop over – or perhaps a weekend – if en route to Barcelona, Toulouse or Lyon.

A new chateau is introduced!  The owners Tim and Sasha team with their daughter (a chef) and her boyfriend.  In this episode they prepare a 7 course meal for the New Year’s Eve celebration to herald in 2019.  After a long day in the kitchen Sasha is the disco DJ but a few minutes before midnight they cannot get the sound system working – they miss midnight but guests hardly noticed.

The Château du Puits es Pratx is a hotel/spa but it was time for a new spa and a makeover for the spa facility.  The new one arrives just 2 days ahead of guests arriving expecting this amenity. The front entrance needs to be grand, so urns are mounted on the gate.

Now that the new spa is in place the adjacent original (circa 1800) bathing pool is transformed into a serenity garden.  With a deadline for guests arriving it’s time to kick it in gear with the planting.

All hands on deck for gardening and planting ahead of the first wedding of the season giving Lilly the chance to get out of the kitchen to the place she loves, the garden. Sasha overcomes her fears after being elevated on a cherry picker to plant the new urns on the gates.  In spite of 45 degree temperatures, the first wedding is a success thanks to Sasha’s creativity including the bride’s grand entrance in a Citroën deux chevaux!
