The Château de Sommesnil is located in the Seine Maritime Department of Haute Normandy.

The Chateau du Sommesnil is located in the area of Normandy known as the Caux, the Alabaster Coast which offers stunning beaches and imposing cliffs as well as the lovely towns of Dieppe, Honfleur and Rouen.  View video of the area

Constructed in 1620, the Chateau stands on the site of a medieval castle which served as a hunting lodge for Louis X and was later gifted to the Bigot family at which time various additions were made to the property.  The current owner has spent the past 11 years restoring the property to its former glory as you can see from this photo gallery:

The Chateau serves as a wedding venue for small weddings in the main house up to 40 guests and larger events of up to 100 in a marquee on the grounds.  Or for 100+ there is the possibility of the coach house with the marquee extension.  The Chateau’s wedding planner, Frederique Carde is available for any inquiries.  Contact Frederique.

The Chateau also offers guest accommodation for up to 18 guests in 5 double ensuite bedrooms and (2) 2 bedroom suites  (click to view rates).  More rooms will become available for 2021 bookings.

Getting there: Train – Paris by Train from Yvetot (5 miles from the Chateau) takes 1 hour 20 mins with frequent services

Ferries – Transmanche ferry service twice a day from Newhaven to Dieppe [30 mins from Chateau). Alternatively, Transmanche daily from Portsmouth to Le Havre (45 mins to Chateau). Cross channel Ferries at Dover to Calais or Boulogne (2 hours by motorway to the Chateau)

Air – Daily flights from UK city airport to Deauville (45 mins from the Chateau). Private flights are available to Rouen (45 mins from the Chateau) and also from the UK to Vittefleur (6 miles from the Chateau).
